A Lesson Hard Learned #giveaway

A Lesson Hard Learned is now available in Kindle Format and on Kindle Unlimited!

I’m so excited about revealing the cover of my soon-to-be-released book that I’m going to give away a copy! (Sorry, US only.)

Once again, the beautiful painting used on the cover was crafted by my husband, Matthew Sotis.

Comment below before midnight ET on August 26, 2016, to enter. Please include your email address so I can contact you if you win. (I promise not to use your email address for anything else!)

The winner will receive a signed copy once the paperback is released.  Good luck!

_ALHL cover KINDLE FINALsmall

Shortly after Elizabeth Bennet refuses Fitzwilliam Darcy’s offer of marriage, he becomes convinced her reproofs were correct and determines to become worthy of her love. His attempt to arrange a “chance” meeting is successful and they cross paths in London.

Soon afterwards, Darcy sails for Virginia to retrieve his newly widowed cousin, who has found herself stranded in a country on the verge of war with her native land. Once there, he suspects her sights are set on him as her next mate. Even worse, his journal—which details his feelings about Elizabeth—is accidentally posted to Elizabeth. Can he return to England, convince her he has taken her opinions to heart, and win her love before she receives it?

The impulsive Elizabeth Bennet is injured while touring a Derbyshire estate with her aunt and uncle, and circumstances find her at the home of Georgiana Darcy while she recuperates. While there, Elizabeth realizes she is in love with Darcy, but will he arrive home and assume the worst about her after finding her living at his estate?

  1. Congrats, Wendi! I love the cover; reminiscent of P&P95 but with wiggle room to use your imagination on their features. At least that was my first thought lol. Wishing you lots and lots of copies sold, as always. 🙂

  4. The cover art is gorgeous. I particularly like the ray of sunshine. Possibly this indicates a happily ever after for our dear couple? Please do not enter me, Wendi, as I’m sure to buy it the second it’s available. Do you have a launch date yet?

BTW, your branding is excellent. The print copy will look lovely alongside your others.

    1. Thanks, Joy! The ebook is available now on Amazon – yay! I’m waiting to receive the proof copy of the paperback so Matt and I can make sure it’s perfect before making that available.

Thanks about the branding comment, Joy. Over the past couple of months, I’ve been playing with redesigning all the covers, but I decided against it. You’re a mind-reader! 😉 Your comment was just want I needed to convince me that I made the right decision!

  5. I love the cover, it reminds me so much of the bbc 1995 adaptation. Thank you for portraying the characters as we have all imagined them for years. I recently saw a cover of Mr. Darcy with blond hair! I think not!! I also love the way the rays of sun are shining down on Elizabeth. I love all your books. Can’t wait to read this one.

    1. Thanks Alexandra! Usually I design the cover and give him a (very badly done) sketch, but Matt designed this cover painting himself this time… though he has seen me watch that adaptation so many times, it seems to be imprinted on his brain cells, LOL! It’s fun to watch the painting take shape as he does it.

      Good luck 🙂

  6. I’m a long-time fan (55+ years) of Jane Austen’s works, but I’m relatively new to P&P fan fiction. This sounds like a wonderful plot, full of adventure AND romance. My preferred format these days is Amazon Kindle (I have very little space to store physical books nowadays), but a signed PB copy would be a treasure indeed!

    Best wishes,
    John

  7. Love the cover for the reticence and hesitation it conveys–so in sync with the book’s description provided here. I’ve read all your novels and am thrilled there is another soon to come; best of luck with it!

  9. I have never read any of Wendy Sotis’ books — of course I’m still rather a newbie to Austenesque stories so I imagine there are several authors I have not yet “met.” Based on this lovely cover and the description I do plan to read it (and would love to win a signed copy!). I can’t wait to find out how the author reconciles these rather diverse plot lines. Wishing you every success with your new book.

  11. Hi everyone! Thank you for entering the giveaway!

Since I’m finishing up formatting the Kindle, I’ll just answer once for the moment.

The paperback will be a few days. I’m just waiting for the proof to be delivered to make sure it prints correctly.

Matt and I appreciate all your wonderful comments – my muse is nudging me to release the ebook tomorrow and get back to writing this weekend… so that’s my goal. I’ll post a new blog article when it goes live (after I have a chance to check the formatting, of course.)

I’m sure your kind words will fuel Matt’s muse, as well. (He needs to start on the cover for The Pact very soon, hint, hint. You can see a sample of that under Works-In-Progress on the menu above.)

  12. Your husband is a very talented artist, just as you are in your writing. Do you watch PP movies together, too? XD

    Congratulations on your new book!

    1. Hi June, Thanks, I think he’s talented, too 🙂 It’s fun to watch it go from a sketch to a painting. He’s like me with my writing – I could revise forever and he could keep tweaking the painting forever, too. I have to stop him after a while, lol. I honestly don’t think Matt has ever watched an entire P&P movie, but I have all that are available on dvd or vcr tape, and he has seen me watch them so many times – especially P&P95 – that he knows them pretty well.

      Good luck in the giveaway!
